Milan Underground (Italy)
Tunnel Sleepers made using the Rutgers Technology have undergone thorough laboratory testing by The Laboratory Structures of Milan University, and have been in track since 2005. Milan Underground use a sleeper imbedded into a concrete casing system, and track testing has proven the technology surpasses expectations. Over 700,000 vehicles have passed over the Sleepers since the installation in 2005, and are still working to a very high standard.

The Long Island Rail Road are testing Tunnel Sleepers made using the Rutgers and Polywood Technologies, specially designed in shorter lengths to accommodate narrow and challenging underground track environments. These tunnel sleepers work in tandem with grouting, which locks the sleeper into a fixed position within a concrete slab. Independent dynamic, static and electrical testing has proven that Sleepers made using the Rutgers and Polywood Technologies offer a long-lasting solution for underground metro systems.
